I have recently been playing The Witcher and managed to complete it after 30 or 40 hours. The game is extremely long and sometimes really boring but i wanted to play it before i went on and played the second one. The Witcher is pretty old now and isn’t really taxing on a new computer but The Witcher 2 is very graphically intense. My new PC struggles to run it at a decent FPS but i think that is down to me not upgrading my graphics card.

When playing PC games do you guys prefer to sacrifice nice looking graphics for a high FPS or do you not mind a drop in FPS for a nice looking game?

I have The Witcher 2 set to the default high settings and I can get 25 - 30 FPS but i would love to have a nice steady 60 FPS which i think can be achieved with a new graphics card. Its looks beautiful and I have gotten used to the frame rate.

I’ve never really been on top of having modern hardware, so I’m all for functionality. I’m much less likely to continue playing a game if it stutters than if I see visual glitches.

I’m all about FPS, can’t stand stutter. I won’t play a game at lowest graphics level just to have 60 FPS though, I’ll be okay with a mediocre looking game at 25-30 FPS.

I hate how GTA V often seems to go <24 FPS.

If I’m playing a multiplayer game, then it’s all about FPS. But then I play something that’s single player, I try to find the nice medium of good FPS and good graphics.

So you would say 25 to 30 is ok @Schamper ?

With online it’s always about having everything as fast as possible, internet speed, ping, fps. The faster the better.

@Scuzz theater movies are ~24 FPS, below that you’ll most likely experience as “stuttering”.

Frame rate drops in games are really noticeable.
