    • International Space Station HD Viewing

      http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload

The High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment aboard the International Space Station (ISS) was activated April 30, 2014. It is mounted on the External Payload Facility of the European Space Agency’s Columbus module. This experiment includes several commercial HD video cameras aimed at the earth which are enclosed in a pressurized and temperature controlled housing. Video from these cameras is transmitted back to earth and also streamed live on this channel. While the experiment is operational, views will typically sequence though the different cameras. Between camera switches, a gray and then black color slate will briefly appear. Since the ISS is in darkness during part of each orbit, the images will be dark at those times. During periods of loss of signal with the ground or when HDEV is not operating, a gray color slate or previously recorded video may be seen.
Analysis of this experiment will be conducted to assess the effects of the space environment on the equipment and video quality which may help decisions about cameras for future missions. High school students helped with the design of some of the HDEV components through the High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) program. Student teams will also help operate the experiment. For a display of the real time ISS location plus the HDEV imagery, visit here: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/HDEV/ To learn more about the HDEV experiment, visit here: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/experiments/917.html

All i see is a black screen so I guess its night time up there.

    • Ghost blogging software, 1 year anniversary.

      http://blog.ghost.org/a-year-to-the-day/

Ghost is a favorite of the NodeBB developers and I think @Schamper is a user too. They have reached their one year anniversary. I don’t read to many blogs and when I do its usually from http://hackerne.ws or from r/technology so i’m not sure how widely used it is.

To those of you have used it, is it any good?

I’m just thinking about some future ideas for BitBangers while reading Hacker News and this popped up. Ghost might be something that we could use in the future.

Anyway, congrats to them for the 1 year anniversary!

So you would say 25 to 30 is ok @Schamper ?

With online it’s always about having everything as fast as possible, internet speed, ping, fps. The faster the better.

    • FPS or Graphics?

I have recently been playing The Witcher and managed to complete it after 30 or 40 hours. The game is extremely long and sometimes really boring but i wanted to play it before i went on and played the second one. The Witcher is pretty old now and isn’t really taxing on a new computer but The Witcher 2 is very graphically intense. My new PC struggles to run it at a decent FPS but i think that is down to me not upgrading my graphics card.

When playing PC games do you guys prefer to sacrifice nice looking graphics for a high FPS or do you not mind a drop in FPS for a nice looking game?

I have The Witcher 2 set to the default high settings and I can get 25 - 30 FPS but i would love to have a nice steady 60 FPS which i think can be achieved with a new graphics card. Its looks beautiful and I have gotten used to the frame rate.

Hey @Leo I recently bought this monitor http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VS248H/

24", 2ms response time, 1920x1080. I got it for around £125 I think. Got it through work on some cheap thing.
