Yesterday the Windows 10 Technical preview was released to the public.
Many people seem to dislike Windows 8 because the lack of a start menu and Metro. I personally don’t mind it but I am rarely in the Metro menu. I only open it if I do not have the program I want on my desktop or pinned to my task bar.
Metro can look pretty if change the layout a bit.I went ahead and downloaded the preview and installed it.
The installation was very quick, around 15 minutes or so.I had a little play with it, it looks and feels exactly like Windows 8.1 but without the Metro menu.
I don’t like the new start menu, it seems very busy and cramped. This may change with future update. I hope they give you the option to use Metro or the new start menu.
I will write a bit more after I have had a better and longer play around with Windows 10.

They will give you that option. That was confirmed, I think.

I only open it if I do not have the program I want on my desktop or pinned to my task bar.
Do you actually open it or do you just press windows button and start searching?
(I’m personally of the opinion that searching is the best way to do it with a start menu/metro menu/launch pad for only the case where you can’t remember the name)

@Almost I have Netflix, Putty, keepass and a few others saved to the Metro but I never actually press the down arrow to open all applications unless it’s something I rarely use.
For PC settings and update I will press windows key and then start typing, I sometimes do this when I can be bothered to use my mouse.

I can’t wait for Windows 10. It looks like it is going to be a great update to the Windows operating system.
